Honesty
Some say the words others want to hear,
Perhaps the truth hurts, is that what they fear?
Protection from reality, guidance as a shield,
We all could keep a secret to prevent the need for heal.
Words that cut deep surely should not be spoken,
A promise to a loved one remaining unbroken.
Honesty, a queer thing, should not be taken lightly,
Say the wrong thing, you may not glow so brightly.
But stay honest, stay true and you could open eyes,
You can stand tall and proud that you have told no lies.
Only those afraid will charge you a forfeit,
Just hold that head up high and prepare to take a hit.
If a truth is what you told you cannot be afraid,
Thanks should be forthcoming; your words should be well paid.
Whichever path you choose to tread be sure of just one thing,
Your words could hurt so be prepared of what it is they bring.
